We're in the neighborhood and have enjoyed/supported every restaurant at this location since 1976. Prik Hom offers great service, beautiful ambiance, and wonderful Thai cuisine. We are delighted to return often!

Prik Hom is a Thai restaurant on Geary Boulevard in the Laurel Heights neighborhood. It's the third Thai restaurant to be added to the Michelin guide for San Francisco, which was enough reason for me to try it, and it didn't disappoint. The restaurant's interior is small and simple but nice. Prik Hom means "aromatic chili" in the Thai language. The menu is à la carte. They also have a set menu, but you need 6 people to order it. I ordered two starters (they are small), one entree, and a dessert. * Scallops and lemongrass * Crab Meat Khao Soi Shot * Yellowtail with thick red curry, fingerroot, and hen of the wood mushrooms * Smoked young coconut ice cream, smoked with a traditional Thai candle Scallops and crab for starters, what more could you ask for? Khao Soi is a curry that combines crispy deep-fried and boiled rice noodles. The yellowtail was very good. They say their curry pastes are house-made, and indeed it was delicious. The coconut ice cream smoked with a traditional Thai candle was unique, and that's a good point. In summary, a great experience with fine and creative cuisine.

This is for the Summer menu (June-Sept). The place is kind of small so make sure you get those reservations! It's also pretty noisy but the servers were super nice, attentive and apologized multiple times for it (not their fault!). The Crab Meat Khao Soi Sho was the best dish of the night hands down. The Scallop and Lemongrass was another must have dish - Sweet scallops and sauces combination is vibrant and flavorful. Sam Tam Fried Quail was seasoned just right. The Beef Cheek Mussaman Curry had very tender beef with lots of rich flavor. The purple rice really complements this dish. The Squid with ink sauce is very light and did not outshine the star of the dish... the squid! The wine selection paired extremely well with the summer menu and the waitress was well versed on what paired with which dish and she was able to fine tune what we were looking for. Overall, the food was excellent and definitely will be coming back again. Snag those reservations whenever they're available!!!

I love Thai food and Prik Hom absolutely blew me away! My boyfriend took me here as a surprise for my birthday and it was absolutely incredible. The servers were attentive and were great at highlighting dishes we couldn't miss. The food The small bites at the beginning (scallop & crab) absolutely cannot be missed, they're insane. The fried chicken is so flavorful although I didn't love how they had chopped up the pieces with the bones in them. The massaman curry was rich and flavorful and the carrots in the sauce had such a bright flavor. Dessert was stellar, not only was it beautiful but it was fresh, creamy and I want to eat it again as I'm writing this. Hard to get a reservation but absolutely worth it.

This place is a quaint little place on Geary that has a lot of people coming and going (reservations are a must for weekends). The service was a bit slow (took about 15min before our order was taken) however it was busy and they only had 2 servers. Note that this place rotates their menu every season so my review is for the spring 2024 menu. They may bring some stuff back or completely change it. So take the rest of this with a grain of salt. This is a list of what we had, keep in mind the portion sizes in general were on the smaller side so if you come, order multiple things per person Fried mushrooms = not worth, very mediocre. In fact I would recommend people to NOT get this Crab Kao soi shot = amazing. The taste of the crab really came into the noodles too and the gravy was amazing. It was small so get 2 since you won't want to share. In fact I would get 2 just for me next time Eggplant basil = this was really good, the eggplant was just the perfect with how it was cooked and the flavors it had. Yellowtail red curry = curry was amazing, second favorite thing I had here. Fish I didn't care for as it was a bit hard and even though it wasn't dry/rubbery, it just took away from the smooth taste and texture that everything else had in the dish Shrimp in the jungle = personally not the biggest fan. It included the shrimp head which was really flavorful but overall there was nothing incredible about this Lychee popsicle = don't let the shallots dissuade you. This was really good. I never thought the combination of icy lychee would go so well with fried shallots, but it does. The sweet and salty balanced each other so well. Smoked coconut ice cream = the Smokiness was not only smelt but also tasted. This was a very intricate dessert with many layers and it worked out so well. Would 100% order both desserts again.

I think Prik Hom is probably one of the best Thai places in town (and that's saying something since SF has an abundance of great Thai food). I saw it pop up as one of the hardest reservations to get and I couldn't overcome my FOMO. I booked a table about a month out and waited patiently for my reservation. It was definitely worth the wait. My friend and I tried scallops and lemongrass, crab meat khao soi shot, fried chicken, branzino yum, beef shank green curry, eggplant with basil, lychee popsicle and smoked young coconut ice cream. Everything was fabulous - the standouts for me were the khao soi shot, beef shank green curry and the eggplant with basil. Service was good but the place can get really busy. With tax and tip, this is a really good dinner for under $100. The restaurant itself is relatively small but I really like the neighborhood restaurant vibes here. It's really hard to get a reservation but I learned that you can call and they might open up a table for you. Highly, highly recommended!!!

This might be my favorite restaurant in SF. The food is phenomenal and each dish was memorable. There were some standouts -- My absolute favorite things we ordered were the halibut curry and the eggplant (which was so good, we ordered a second plate of it). The eggplant had a gingery, super umami sauce that I kept going back in for. We also got the mushroom larb, fried chicken, naked shrimp, and the spicy shrimp (I'm not usually a shrimp person, but it was all perfectly cooked). The portions are a little small - but if you go in a group, it's the perfect opportunity to try a variety of dishes. We got about 7 plates of food, rice, and a dessert between 4 people, and it was more than enough for us. The restaurant itself is small, so you'll definitely want to look well in advance for a reservation. It'll be worth it! Service is very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We got great food and wine recommendations (we got a bottle of the Lover Girl wine, which was a perfect complement to the meal). Highly recommend!

I was thrilled to snag a last-minute Saturday night reservation at the highly acclaimed Prik Hom. It felt like I hit the jackpot! My husband and I were eager to try it out, and the experience lived up to the hype. Here's what we ordered: Starter - Fried Chicken: Crunchy and moist, this dish was pure deliciousness. It was the perfect start and could easily be shared among four people. Yum-Branzino Yum Salad: This might have been my favorite dish of the night. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the combination of flavors was bright and delightful. Curry - Beef Shank Green Curry: Slow-cooked for five hours, the beef was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. Stir-Fry - Jungle Shrimp: This dish had a moderate level of heat and was absolutely delicious, featuring Fresno and Serrano chilis that added just the right amount of spice. The dish was balanced with bright, fresh flavors. Smoked Young Coconut Ice Cream: This dessert was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We devoured it so quickly that our server commented on how fast it disappeared. I shared it with my husband, which meant I barely got a chance to savor it. Next time, I'll definitely get my own! We also enjoyed a glass of Riesling, which paired perfectly with our meal. Next time, we might opt for a whole bottle. The ambiance at Prik Hom was pleasant--not too loud, even though the place was packed. The service was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. Prik Hom truly deserves all the accolades it's receiving, and I can't wait to visit again!

Overall really good Thai restaurant and not your average Pad Thai kind of place. It was named in top 50 restaurants in The NY Times list, which maybe set my expectations too high. Food: Menu changes every 3-4 months. Don't miss the Son Yum In Law (5/5) if it's on the menu. It's the most unique dish we had and just delicious. I don't know how they have the most delicate crispy fried whole egg while the egg is still a bit runny. The eggplant (5/5) was our favorite dish by far. Oxtail soup (3.5/5) was nice but I did not find it to be that flavorful and it was a rather small bowl of soup. The scallop (4/5) was good but wouldn't order it again at $8 per scallop. There were two desserts and we tried both. I thought the smoked coconut ice cream was delicious and creamy. The lychee popsicles sounded great and it was fine but did not wow me. It's also hard to share so just know that. Service: friendly and prompt. The only thing I didn't like after being there twice is that it seems like they are sales people, always upselling the scallops or the Thai teas to you no matter what. Ambiance: I do like that it's a small space. Nothing too special but that's ok. I was happy that it wasn't too loud or too dark. Just right. I am curious when their menu changes and will be keeping an eye out for another visit sometime.
